National Learn-to-Row Day

Purpose:
To expose the lifetime sport of rowing to anyone who would like to experience it.
Physical Requirements:
“Ability to fog a mirror when one breathes on it,” according to Coach Mac.
What to Expect:
- Rowing instruction on an Indoor Rowing Machine
- Tour of the boathouse/types of boats/sweeping and sculling/history of TRC
- Introduction to SumPro
- Row and Alden Ocean Shell tethered to the dock
- Ride an 8-oared shell (as a passenger) with 6 experienced rowers

SUMPRO – The TRC Summer Learn-to-Row Program
Sweep: June 7 - July 1; Sculling: July 5 - 30
SumPro starts on Monday, 7 June 2010 at 1728 (That's 5:28 pm for the landlubbers).
Everyone who is interested in learning to row should show up on that day so that we can find out who wants to do Mondays and Wednesdays and who wants to do Tuesdays and Thursdays. Anyone who wants to is welcome to do all four days - no extra charge.
The first four weeks will be sweep school - each rower has both hands on one oar. The first four weeks is over on 1 July.
The second four weeks will be sculling school - each rower has an oar in each hand. The second four weeks - sculling school - runs from 5 July until 30 July.
The fee is $100 per session or $180 for both sessions.
